It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
