European Leaders Condemn US Move as ‘Intimidation’
Officials from Europe including Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions targeted figures who have been central to campaigns to enact legislation regulating American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led coordinated campaigns to pressure American platforms to punish American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote the US secretary of state online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”

Nations including Germany, Spain, and the UK, alongside numerous EU representatives joined France in criticizing the decision.
The restrictions were imposed on Tuesday against a former EU commissioner involved in crafting the bloc’s Digital Services Act (DSA), along with four activists fighting false information, including Germany and the United Kingdom.
