Cars in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police reported they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the substance was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

An important representative commented the incident rendered him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
